Dr. Buterbaugh
is the President of the Hand & UpperEx Center and the Executive
Director of the Western PA Surgery Center. A Pittsburgh native,
he received his Medical Degree at the University of Pittsburgh
in 1979, and proceeded on to Syracuse, New York where he completed
his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery in 1984. He was Fellowship-trained
in Hand and Microvascular Surgery at Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Buterbaugh has been in private practice since
1985 and is on the medical staff at UPMC Passavant/Cranberry,
UPMC Presbyterian/Shadyside, Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh,
Mercy Hospital, UPMC St. Margaret, and Allegheny General Hospital.
His current academic appointment is Clinical Associate Professor,
Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, University of Pittsburgh School
of Medicine.
His various professional commitments include Chairman,
Orthopaedic Product Standardization Committee, Allegheny General
Hospital 1994-1995; member of the Orthopaedic Review Journal Editorial
Board from 1991-1995; and Chief of Orthopaedics at UPMC Passavant
from 1996-1998. He also serves as the Hand Consultant for the
Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Penguins, and has previously
served as a consultant for the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Dr. Buterbaugh serves as a member of the Three Rivers
Workforce Investment Board, CCAC Advisory Board, and is the Chairman
of the Board of Trustees at Sewickley Academy. He also serves
on the board's Development Committee, Educational Committee, Finance
Committee and Student Life Committee.
